AP source: Ex-diplomat in counterintelligence case.......

WASHINGTON — Two U.S. officials say a federal investigation involving a former U.S. diplomat and expert on Pakistan is related to counterintelligence.
One of the officials said Friday that law enforcement agents searched the home of Robin Raphel (RAY’-ful) as part of an investigation into the possession of classified materials. The official declined to comment further.
The investigation was first reported by The Washington Post.
A spokesman for Raphel, Andrew Rice, says that Raphel had not been told what the investigation was about and was “confident this will be resolved.”
State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki says the department is cooperating. She says that Raphel’s appointment expired and she’s no longer an employee.
Raphel is a former ambassador to Tunisia and most recently a senior adviser on civilian aid to Pakistan.
