NEW DELHI: Travelling on the first semi-high speed train 'Gatiman Express' between Delhi andAgra is set to cost you 25% more than the eliteShatabdi train on the same route.

While it costs Rs 505 for an AC chair car ticket from Delhi to Agra on Shatabdi, a passenger will have to pay about Rs 625 to travel in Gatimaan Express. Gatimaan's Executive Class ticket for one way journey will cost Rs 1,325 as against Shatabdi's Rs 1,000.

The date for the launch of Gatimaan Express, which will travel at speed of 160 kmph (highest so far in India) is yet to be finalized while the railways had announced to start it by November-end. As of now, Shatabdi runs at a speed 130 kmph.

While the travel time between Delhi and Agra in Shatabdi is 120 minutes, Gatimaan Express proposes to reduce it to 105 minutes.

Equipped with comfortable seating arrangement, Gatimaan Express will have automatic fire alarm with emergency braking system and passenger information system.

The railways are currently awaiting safety clearance from the commissioner of railway safety for flagging off the train.

According to a senior railway ministry official, all necessary preparations including fencing of certain areas along the route are expected to be completed soon. Two trial runs have already been undertaken.
