13 militants killed in Karachi clash............

ISLAMABAD: At least 13 militants were killed in a clash with the police in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi Monday night, police said. 

Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Rao Anwar said the police raided a hideout of suspected militants in Sohrab Goth area of Karachi, the capital city of the country's southern Sindh province, according to Xinhua. 

He said a meeting of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was going on in the compound when police attacked it on an intelligence tip-off. 

Revealing the identities of the terrorists, the SSP said nine among the dead belonged to TTP while four were linked with al-Qaida. 

Police recovered arms and ammunition including suicide jackets, hand grenades, guns and bullets from the custody of the suspected militants who were clad in police uniform. 

The SSP said that police arrested a suicide bomber during the raid. 

The arrested militants have been shifted to an unidentified location for investigations. 

Police and army have stepped up operations against suspected militants across the whole of Pakistan following a deadly terrorist attack in the country's northwest Peshawar city Dec 16 that left over 140 students and teachers dead.
