KINGSPORT — Eastman Chemical Co. again has been honored with a Glassdoor Employees' Choice Award that recognizes the Best Places to Work in 2015.
Eastman was ranked 30th out of 50 companies chosen for the honor.
The Employees' Choice Awards program, now in its seventh year, relies solely on the input of employees who elect to provide feedback on their jobs, work environments and companies via Glassdoor's anonymous online company reviews survey.
"We're pleased that team members share what it's like to work at Eastman through Glassdoor reviews, and we're honored to be named among the Best Places to Work in 2015," Eastman Chairman and CEO Mark Costa said in a prepared release. "We're also incredibly thankful for the efforts of our more than 14,000 team members who work diligently not only to make Eastman a great place to work but a great choice for our customers and investors and a strong partner in the communities in which we operate."
Eastman Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Perry Stuckey noted, "Our employees around the world have created a unique culture that makes Eastman a special place to work. When people love where they work and enjoy working with each other, great things happen. We're excited about the recognition from Glassdoor, and we're thrilled that it results from the way employees feel about working at Eastman."
The Glassdoor company review survey includes both quantitative and qualitative questions designed to capture a genuine and authentic inside look at what it's like to work at particular jobs and companies. The survey asks employees to rate their satisfaction with the company overall, and key workplace factors like career opportunities, compensation, benefits, work/life balance, senior management, as well as culture and values. In addition, employees are asked to describe the best reasons to work at their companies as well as any downsides.
The Best Places to Work are determined using company reviews shared by U.S.-based employees who elected to participate in the survey between Nov. 13, 2013, and Nov. 2, 2014. To be considered for the large category, a company must have at least 1,000 or more employees and have received at least 50 company reviews from U.S.-based employees during the window of eligibility. The final list is compiled based on Glassdoor's proprietary algorithm and takes into account quantity, quality and consistency of reviews.
Eastman, a Kingsport-based global specialty chemical company, serves customers in approximately 100 countries and had 2013 revenues of approximately $9.4 billion.
