Yuvraj Singh and Murali Vijay could not make it to India’s 15-member squad for the World Cup, as selectors announced the side to defend the cup won at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai four years ago.
The team announced on Tuesday comprises skipper MS Dhoni, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Stuart Binny, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
This squad will play a tri-series involving Australia and England from January 16 to February 1. For the tri-series, the selectors have picked Dhawal Kulkarni and Mohit Sharma.
The selection panel, headed by Sandeep Patil, had shortlisted 30 players for the World Cup
The 2015 World Cup is scheduled from February 14 to March 29 in Australia and New Zealand.
