During the meeting, Modi fondly recalled his first visit to Myanmar in November last year to attend ASEAN-India Summit and East Asia Summit, and his first meeting with President U Thein Sein in Nay Pyi Taw at the time.
Welcoming the recent visit of the Myanmarese Vice President to Bodh Gaya, he highlighted the importance of cultural ties, and the civilizational links between the people of India and Myanmar. The two leaders "discussed ways to strengthen the bilateral partnership in view of Prime Minister's 'Act East' Policy, particularly in the sectors of connectivity, education, infrastructure, trade and culture, a PMO statement said.
