HTC’s Google Play Edition Handsets To Receive Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Next Week.......

Ever since Google unveiled Android 5.0 Lollipop, that new version of Android OS has been all over the news. Of course, that is to be expected considering… well, it’s Android after all and millions upon millions of device are powered by it. Anyhow, many manufacturers have already gave us indications of when we might expect them to update their devices to Android 5.0 Lollipop, while some have already started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update, aside from Google of course. Motorola has started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop to both the Moto G (2nd-gen) and the Moto X (2nd-gen). Moto G’s (US unlocked version) update was available to download OTA even before Google started rolling out OTA updates to its Nexus device, which was kind of odd, but, kudos Motorola.

Many HTC users are waiting for this Taiwanese manufacturer to release Android 5.0 Lollipop update to company’s Google Play Edition devices and have been persistent on Twitter asking for the exact release date. “lollipop timeline for GPE? plssssss” asked @amir khan via Twitter and HTC’s Mo Versi said the following: “Target is early next week. Thanks.”, which leads us to believe both HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 GPE edition devices will get the Android 5.0 Lollipop next week. Mr. Versi didn’t mention which device will get the update first though, perhaps the company plans to unleash some Lollipop goodness on both of those devices at the same time. Either way, both of them will get it next week, so no matter which one gets it first, you shouldn’t have to wait too long for this update to hit your device.
How many of you out there own HTC One M7 or M8 GPE edition and are waiting for this update to come your way? I’m personally trying to find some time to manually sideload OTA update to my Nexus 5 and will quite probably do it today. Talking about that, how many of you out there actually run Android 5.0 Lollipop on your handsets today? No matter if we’re talking about official releases or some custom third-party ROM you flashed on your device in order to get the new version of Android as soon as possible.
