FLIGHTS between New Zealand and China can double under an agreement that's just been signed.
NEW Zealand Transport Minister Simon Bridges says each country will be able to offer 42 flights a week.
Under the previous agreement they were restricted to 21 a week.
He believes the number of connections will soon start to increase.
"So far this year 252,000 Chinese visitors arrived in New Zealand by air," he said.
"That compares with 108,000 Chinese visitors arriving by air in 2009 - with increased air services, forecasts indicate that 509,000 will visit New Zealand by air each year by 2020."
