A body found on Brighton beach is thought to be that of a second man who was swept out to sea after standing by the water's edge for a dare.
A member of the public found the body, believed to be missing Dan Nicholls, on the beach in Rottingdean, Brighton, at 8.10am this morning.
It has been recovered from the scene by Sussex police.
Detective Chief Inspector Carwyn Hughes said: "Dan's family has been informed and has yet to make a formal identification but it is likely to be Dan.
"We are supporting them in what has been a horrendous weekend for all those involved.
"Our search is now suspended while identification is confirmed."

Searching: Staff braved the difficult conditions in a bid to find the pair

Mr Nicholls, 23, was knocked off his feet in during 'dangerous' gale force nine conditions by a large wave near the Palace Pier on Brighton beach during the early hours of yesterday morning.
Relatives said in a family statement: "Dan was a sensitive individual who had a real enthusiasm for life.
"He was a gentleman who always showed concern for others and was a great hugger."
The body of 24-year-old Freddie Reynolds, who went into the water to try to rescue Mr Nicholls, was found in the surf on Saltdean beach, four miles east of the pier, by a member of the public at 2.25pm yesterday.
Mr Reynolds' family praised his bravery after formally identifying his body yesterday.
The family added: "We are devastated but also extremely proud of Freddie and the bravery he showed in trying to save Dan."
